Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured psychotherapy that is used to treat symptoms of PTSD, trauma, depression, panic, sleep disturbance, and anxiety. EMDR therapy been proven effective in reducing the chronic symptoms that typically follow trauma. EMDR is designed to resolve unprocessed traumatic memories in the brain.

EMDR encourages the client to focus briefly on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation through bilateral eye movements or tapping. Through the bilateral stimulation, the vividness and emotions are reduced from the memory.
